Yes, finally here.
It has truly been a a while since I got ground under my feet. Of course the ferry did not leave at 04 am Saturday morning as supposed to. We spent our last night at the bar playing pool/billiard and watching ferry crew members play. Suddenly everyone rushed out at 03am, we after them with our luggage. The crew stood by listening the notifications from the coast guard about the wind. No one still knew when we could departure. We slept at the boat to wake up at Cuyo port again. Went for breakfast and waited a bit longer. We finally departured at noon(ish). The sea was very rough and according to the info from the ferrys chief technician, we would arrive in Iloilo port around 02-03am the next morning. After 16h ride we arrived at 04am, and then it took of course some time to get out.
First shock after the quietness of Cuyo and also after Coron were the touts that came to the ferry; "Porter, mam?", "Mam, taxi?", "Tricycle mam?", "Bus station, mam, Boracay?" No use telling them we will be stuck in here for 2 days...for the visa extensions.
The following will also be a shock after the beach life, but good news is, that the Bureau of Immigration will open early. More info also in here http://www.iloiloboard.com/visa-extensions.php
'All APPLICANTS are required to dress properly. Applicants wearing shorts, sandos, and slippers will not be allowed to ENTER the Immigration Office. Transactions are entertained during Mondays to Fridays, 7:00am to 5:30pm.'
We were told that the coffee at Iloilo Starbucks just sucks (tastes like fish), and were recommended Coffee Break next to the SM Mall, and all I can say now is that both the Latte and tiramisu are heavenly. Later on more joys of a big city, movies.
